I notice data will be available upon request but not the structure. How will the data be returned? What format if not database export?
Data will be returned the same way in a backup file.
What database encryption is being utilized?
We don’t do any database encryption.
Who will have access to the data?
Each client only has access to their own data with their encryption key. As we don’t have the encryption key, we are not able to access any client data.
Is each document encrypted individually or is the storage container/Software/App encrypted?
Veeam will encrypt all data using the encryption key set by the client.
How is the data encrypted in Transit?
The data is secured with a SSL/TLS connection.
Who has access to the data at Rest?
Each client only has access to their own data with their encryption key.
How is the data encrypted at Rest?
All data is stored on our servers using Veeam’s AES 256-bit encryption.
Are there third parties other than the main provider that could/has access to data?
No. The data will only be accessed by the main provider. Even the main provider cannot actually access the data.
What version/s of NTLM is allowed with Active Directory?
We are not using Active Directory as Veeam does all the authentication.
How is the document access rights managed?
This is not a factor with our solution as all data is stored in your encrypted backups.
Is there a multi-factor authentication option?
Our management console does not support multi-factor authentication.
What encryption strategies and methods are being used?
We use Veeam’s end-to-end AES 256-bit encryption to secure your data and give you peace of mind.
Which Anti Virus software is used?
We use Sophos AV to protect our environment against outbreaks.
Do you use any Data Leak Prevention (DLP )?
Currently we do not see the need for a DLP implementation, as no users will have access to any client information.
Have you implemented Security Information and Event Management (SIEM)?.
We don’t currently have a SIEM implementation.
Is there any IDS (Intrusion Detection System) or IPS (Intrusion Prevention System) implementation?
We use Snort to monitor traffic, and detect and prevent intrusions.
Do you use only standard Windows Server features, or have you had additional Windows functionality developed?
We only use standard Windows Server features.
What remediation/patching strategy is being maintained on the physical infrastructure?
We do a maintenance weekend every 3 months to patch and fix any security issues.
Is there any vulnerability assessments being done, from IMM/Bios Level up to application level? If so how frequent and what tool is being used?
Yes – we use OpenVAS.
How long is your backup retention?
The default backup retention is 2 weeks. You can however set the Backup retention to any amount you require from within your Veeam backup Job.
Are there is offsite backups, or are all backups stored in the same location as the servers?
We have data spread over two locations with backups of key infrastructure components in a third location.
Are you in direct control of your infrastructure or is it being managed by a third party?
We are in control of all our own hardware.
Will you assist in procuring Veeam licensing and setting things up on my side?
No. In order to provide you with the best possible solution, we have made a conscious decision to specialize in only providing Backup as a Service.
Please speak to your IT department or an external IT service provider about Veeam licensing and setting things up on your side.
Can I use your solution if my data does not reside in South Africa?
Yes, we welcome international customers.
The 2 main criteria you need to look at in order to determine if this will be viable for you, is your bandwidth cost and speed.
How does payment work?
Payment for all package options is in advance. Should your usage increase during the package term, you will be billed for the increase on a pro-rata basis.
For how long do I have to subscribe if I want to use your service?
Our simplest package will allow you to subscribe on a month by month basis.
We do however have a 1 year and a 3 year package. If you elect to take either of those, the savings are substantial.

What do I need in order to use your solution?
- We only provide Backup as a Service for servers that have been virtualized using VMware.
- You will need a Veeam Backup and Replication V8 (or higher) license to connect to our solution.
- Your internet connection should have a upload speed of at least 2 Mbps. It’s however recommended that you have 1 Mbps upload speed for every 300 GB of data
